Bob March
Dr. Bob March is a leading specialist on Japanese and Chinese business and culture, the author of six books on Japan, including: "The Japanese Negotiator", and of two books on China, "The Chinese Negotiator" (2006), and "Business Relationships with the Chinese" (2003). Dr. March has consulted to multinational corporates in the Asia region on Japanese negotiation and business relationships since the early 1980s, and China since the mid-nineties.
The majority of Dr. Bob March's client consultancy has been with American, Australian and Japanese multinationals. His unique understanding of what it takes to be professional in East-West negotiations has emerged from his long, diverse experience of working with, and training and guiding, both Western and Asian individuals and teams, as well as over 25 years of consulting, teaching and writing.
Dr. Bob March describes his passion and focus as being a problem solver: "What I love about cross-cultural negotiation consulting is identifying the problems and providing the solutions. Negotiation Training has never been an off the shelf product for me. It is a solution to each client's unique challenges". Bob feels at home when dealing with the all too common cross-cultural differences and misunderstandings that can destroy negotiations and business relationships.
Dr. Bob March currently lectures an MBA course in China.
Dr. Bob March has taught International Negotiation Skills to graduate students at Nanjing University (2006), and "Business Negotiation with China and Japan" online at the University of New England, 2000 – 2005. He was Professor of International Business at Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo, 1981-1988 (teaching in both English and Japanese); has variously been a visiting professor at: the Institute of International Studies and Training, Fujinomiya, Japan (1973 – 1981); Sophia University, Tokyo (1974-1975); University of California, Berkeley, 1984, Copenhagen Business School, 1996; University of New South Wales (1990 – 1994); University of Western Sydney (1994-1998),University of Southern California (various between 1978 & 1996); University of Maryland (2000-2003 as Japanese business and cross-cultural business course designer).
