Seattle's Attractions

Why not start at the Space Needle, Seattle’s most distinctive building? Originally built for the 1962 World Fair, the site is now a sprawling entertainment complex offering visitors options as diverse as the Pacific Science Center and the Seattle Center Monorail. Of course, the Space Needle is the highlight, where you can dine in the SkyCity revolving restaurant or take in the sights on the observation deck. Smith Tower in the Pioneer Square Historic District offers another stunning view of Seattle. You’ll know you’ve arrived when you see the enormous totem pole. Walk the same streets as the pioneers did – either above ground, or below.

Another great place to view Seattle’s picturesque mountains and sea is from the Seattle Greet Wheel along the waterfront. Or just stroll the promenade while stopping at the cafés and shops along the way. Seattle has one of the nation’s great sporting heritages and its fans are known as the loudest in North America. Head over to CenturyLink Field to take in a Seahawks (American football) or Seattle Sounders FC (soccer) game. Both teams have won championships recently and have some of the most dedicated fans in sports. If you’re here in summer, check out Safeco Field for a Mariners (baseball) game. The stadium features a one-of-a-kind ‘retractable umbrella’ roof designed to cover the stadium, but not enclose it, allowing for outdoor play at all times.
